The rapture is an end-times event; in fact you could call it THE end-times event. Once that happens, the cat will be out of the bag. Anybody who is not a stubborn rebel will probably realize the Bible is true at that point, and that those crazy pre-tribulation Christians were right. That is the main purpose of this website, to give information to those of you who are salvageable and find yourselves on the earth after this event takes place.
At the time of this writing, it hasn’t happened yet. Why not? After all, it’s been 2,000 years. Why hasn’t the Lord come to take his bride yet?
The answer is as simple as it is wonderful: Because the church (the bride of Christ) isn’t big enough yet. That is the only reason. The harvest isn’t quite ready. The incredible longsuffering grace and mercy of God is still waiting while the Holy Spirit is adding members to the church daily. And besides, a thousand years is like a day to the Lord and a day is like a thousand years so it really hasn’t been all that long.
There is, however, a certain number which only God knows, which will be the full membership count of the church. As soon as it is reached we are out of here. If you are not yet a believer but are on the fence, you could be the one who makes that final number! (Please, please accept the Lord today so we can all go home!)
Therefore the signs of the rapture are simply signs of the end times. As we see those, we know we are getting close. Besides the natural disasters, disease, famine, and wars that Jesus himself told us to watch for in Matthew 24, the apostle Paul gave us a distinct sign of the last days in 2 Timothy 3:1-4. These interesting signs describe the general behavioral patterns of people.
People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God… NIV
Now let me ask you – does any of that sound familiar? OK, let me put it differently. Does any of that not sound familiar? Does any of it sound like a science-fiction movie? Or does it all sound like what you will probably encounter as soon as you step outside your front door?
It wasn’t always like this! Those character traits were not typical in the western society of the 19th century, nor were they typical as recently as the 1950’s. But take a look around today. Things are changing – fast. And they are not changing towards a moral, dignified, ethical, God-loving society. They are moving away from that at light speed. Legalizing gay marriages, taking God’s name out of the schools and off the currency, frivolous lawsuits, people committing wrongs against their fellow man motivated purely by financial gain, these are all signs that the rapture is getting close.
The fact that Israel is a nation-state again after being gone for 1800 years cannot be over-emphasized. They need to be there for many of the tribulation events to literally occur. In the 18th and 19th centuries the protestant church in England realized this and was taking deliberate steps to bring about the return of Jews to Palestine. They first wanted to make sure the Jews were scattered to the four corners of the earth so that they could be re-gathered in their homeland per Biblical prophecy, and thus a movement was born to bring them back to England (where they had been previously kicked out of). But even they never dreamed that Israel would actually achieve independent statehood again; just being back in the land was considered sufficient.
Look for a continuing isolation of Israel. As they lose their political friends and stand more and more alone, we move deeper into the end times and ever-so-closer to the rapture. But we are already close enough. Jesus said that he will come when we don’t expect him, when the world is doing business as usual. But when the signs of the end times start appearing, to look up because our redemption draws near. Now that sounds like today.
